# How to use the My Gym tab

> Classes, opening hours, Wi-Fi, who works there and checking in - what the My Gym tab in MapYourGym does, and how to switch gyms.

Most of the app is about training. The My Gym tab is about the building: when it is open, how busy it is, what is on, and who can help.

## What is on the tab

Your gym's name and address at the top, then six things.

- Classes - the timetable, and booking a place.
- Amenities - opening hours, facilities and the Wi-Fi.
- Equipment - what is on the floor, by brand.
- Staff and coaches - who works there and what they do.
- Check in and check out - tell the gym you are here.
- People here - how busy it is right now.

## Checking in and out

Checking in is one tap, and the only thing it does is add you to the people here right now count. That number is genuinely useful when you are deciding whether to go at half five, and it only works if people use it.

The number is live. It is how many people are in the building right now, not a number left over from the last time you opened the app. Check out when you leave so the number stays honest for everyone still there. If you forget, the app will nudge you a couple of hours later.

## Classes

The timetable shows what is coming up, with the coach taking it. Tap a class for the detail: how long it runs, what it involves, who is leading it, and how many places are left.

That last part is the reason a class has a screen of its own. Eight of twelve places taken is the thing that decides whether you turn up, and it does not fit on a timetable row. Attend books your place, and you can cancel it from the same screen if your week changes.

## Opening hours, facilities and the Wi-Fi

Amenities answers the practical questions. Whether the gym is open now, or open around the clock. What the Wi-Fi network is called, so you can join it from your phone's settings without asking at the desk.

Then the facilities list, each with its own hours. Most run to gym hours, but a cafe or a supplement shop often does not, and the list says so rather than leaving you to find out.

_The cafe keeps its own hours, and the list says so._

## Staff and coaches

Who works there, with a photo, what they do and a short bio. Coaches, personal trainers, physios, therapists, nutritionists and the people on the desk are listed separately, so you can find the right person rather than the first one.

This is also where the coach you might share progress photos with comes from - you pick someone you recognise from this list rather than hunting for an account name.

## Changing gym, and looking before you join

Change gym at the bottom of the tab lets you search every gym using MapYourGym. Each one has a profile you can read before committing: photos, what the place is like, its amenities, the brands of equipment on its floor, what classes are on today, who works there and what membership costs.

The equipment brands are worth a look. If you have trained on Hammer Strength or Watson and you know how those machines feel, that tells you more about a gym in one line than a paragraph of description does.

_Everything you would want to know before joining, on one page._

You can also carry on without a gym. You keep the exercise library, your own workouts and your history - you just do not get a specific gym's map, kit or sessions until you pick one.
